Dr. Dre sells Malibu Mansion for $16.5 Million Posted on March 23, 2026 By Remy Gelenidze After more than two decades, music mogul Dr. Dre has officially parted ways with his legendary Malibu retreat, selling the beachfront estate in an off-market deal for US$16.5 million. The hip-hop titan originally purchased the Carbon Beach property in 2000 for US$4.8 million, securing a massive return on his long-term investment.Spanning nearly 9,000 square feet across three levels, the contemporary residence is located in the elite enclave nicknamed “Billionaire’s Beach.” The six-bedroom, seven-bathroom home is designed to maximize its prime Pacific Ocean frontage, featuring floor-to-ceiling stone walls, a wood-burning fireplace, and expansive picture windows that offer panoramic views. The interior includes a professional-grade kitchen with stainless steel appliances and blonde wood cabinetry, while the upper level is entirely dedicated to a primary suite. This private floor boasts a boutique-style walk-in closet, a sauna, two reading nooks, and a private oceanfront balcony. Reflecting the owner’s career, the home also features an ocean-facing recording studio alongside a private gym and a home office. While the final sale is a significant milestone, the property’s journey on the market spanned over a decade. Dr. Dre first attempted to sell the coastal home in 2012 with an asking price between US$11 million and US$12.5 million. Most recently, it was relisted in 2022 for US$20 million before the price fluctuated and the deal finally closed privately. This transaction is the latest move in a broader consolidation of Dr. Dre’s real estate portfolio. In recent years, he has successfully offloaded several other Southern California assets, including a Woodland Hills home for US$4.5 million in 2019 and a Calabasas mansion for US$6 million in 2023.
