It is true and I agree. If you look at the origin of where hip-hop came from and what was happening in New York City, what was happening in the Bronx, and the way black people and people of color have been treated historically in America from the jump, this was the music that was birthed out of oppression.” said Macklemore. Then he continues: Hip-Hop is inclusive so there’s always been an open door to a certain extent. But I’m a guest, Em [Eminem] is a guest. Doesn’t matter how good we get. Doesn’t matter how great Eminem is. We’re guests in the culture. Hundred percent. And that’s not to say that I don’t belong here… I absolutely belong here. But you still have to realize this is not your house. You’re a guest! Take Your shoes off and help with some dishes.” Advertisement You can watch the interview below: View this post on Instagram A post shared by @macklemore Advertisement [VIA]RECENT RELATED ARTICLESEminem and 50 Cent Attend Pistons vs. Cavaliers Game 5 in DetroitMay 14, 2026John Waters Names Eminem as the Last Person He Still Wants to MeetMay 13, 2026Mimi Barks Cites Eminem as the Foundation of Her SoundMay 4, 2026Westside Boogie Talks New Album Progress and Playing It for EminemMay 2, 2026RZA Recalls Meeting Eminem: “Lyricists Recognized Him Immediately”May 1, 2026Doja Cat Freestyles Over “The Real Slim Shady” Beat, Nails Eminem’s Iconic DeliveryApril 23, 2026 EminemMacklemore
