Today in 2010, Eminem’s “Recovery” debuted at No. 1 on Billboard 200

On this day, exactly 13 years ago (July 11, 2010), Eminem’s “Recovery” album debuted at No. on the US Billboard 200 charts with first-week sales of 741,000 copies. It became Eminem’s sixth album to debut at No. 1 in the United States.

In its second week of release it remained at number-one and sold 313,000 copies. It also entered at number one on Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and Rap Albums chart. In its ninth week of release the album remained at number one for its seventh non-consecutive week.

Recovery debuted at No. 1 on the United Kingdom Albums Chart, selling 140,000 copies in its first week in the country. In Canada, the album sold 85,000 copies in its first week and debuted at No. 1 on Canada’s Albums Chart. The album spent six consecutive weeks at number one, and retook the top spot after one week at number two.

By the end of its release year, Recovery had sold over 5.7 million copies worldwide. It was one of the best-selling album of 2010 in the United States with 3.4 million copies, and it had sold 2.3 million copies in other territories for a total of 5.7 million copies worldwide by December 2010. According to the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, it was also the best-selling album of 2010 worldwide. The album was the best-selling album in Canada in 2010 selling 435,000 copies; more than double the album in second place.

Recovery spawned four singles: “Not Afraid”, “Love the Way You Lie” with Rihanna, “No Love” with Lil Wayne, and “Space Bound”, with the former two both reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

In 2022, Recovery was certified 8x platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), becoming Eminem’s third best-selling studio album behind The Marshall Mathers LP (2000) and The Eminem Show (2002).

At the 2011 Grammy Awards, it was nominated for Album of the Year, Song of the Year and Record of the Year; the latter two were for “Love the Way You Lie”. The album earned Eminem Grammy award, American Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards, among other awards.

Eminem’s seventh solo studio album “Recovery” has now crossed the 20 million album sales worldwide. The Grammy-winning project has now sold 8.3 million in pure sales, 5.6 million as a digital units, and 5.3 million as a streaming units.

“Recovery” becomes third Eminem album to hit 20 million sales mark, after “The Eminem Show” and “The Marshall Mathers LP” and fifth album overall in hip-hop genre, following Fugees’ “The Score” and Tupac’s “All Eyez On Me.”

Upon its release, “Recovery” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with first-week sales of 741,000 copies. It also reached No. 1 in 16 other countries. It spawned four singles: “Not Afraid”, “Love the Way You Lie” featuring Rihanna, “No Love” featuring Lil Wayne, and “Space Bound”, with the former two both reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Eminem’s Sptoify streams are increasing day by day!

After breaking the record for the most albums with 1 Billion streams, Eminem’s Recovery surpassed 3 billion streams.

Recovery is a second album in Eminem’s catalog to reach this milestone. Only The Eminem Show managed to do so.

Other albums that are close to 3 billion streams are The Marshall Mathers LP 2 and Kamikaze.

The Eminem Show is also aiming for 4 billion streams.

Kay Cola talks working with Eminem on “Not Afraid”

Ten years ago, multimillionaire beauty entrepreneur Kay Cola, who was a single mother of two, could never have imagined where she’d be today. Kay Cola became a multi-millionaire after leaving the music industry to build her own all-natural beauty business but before she left, she has worked with Eminem and Dr. Dre in the past.

In a recent interview with Forbes, she talked about the working experience with two legendary figures in hip-hop: “Working with Eminem was certainly a high point in my music career. The song was ‘Not Afraid,’ from the Recovery album. It was a very collaborative experience and I was both singing and writing for the track. Dr Dre was great to work with, too. He would let me do my thing and give me guidance afterward.

Pop Smoke breaks Eminem’s 10 years old record on Billboard charts

Late rapper Pop Smoke hit an impressive feat on the Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop album chart in the United States . Just a few days ago, Billboard reported that Pop Smoke’s posthumous album, Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon, which is executive produced by 50 Cent, reached an accolade that was unseen in 30 years on its Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.

According to the Billboard, Pop Smoke’s album is the longest-running No. 1 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop album chart since 1990 (in the last 30 years), leading the chart for the 17th week. The record was held by Eminem’s 2010 album, Recovery which spent 16 weeks on the charts. Overall, legendary rapper M.C. Hammer’s Please Hammer, Don’t Hurt Em album, dominated the chart for 29 weeks back in 1990.

 

Pop Smoke ties Eminem’s record on Official Irish Albums Chart

Pop Smoke’s Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon album, which was executive produced by 50 Cent, is officially Ireland’s biggest debut album released in 2020.

Pop Smoke’s Meet The Woo mixtapes put him on the map, but his legacy was firmly cemented with his debut and posthumous album Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Official Irish Albums Chart in July, and returned to the top spot 10 weeks later to claim a further 5 non-consecutive weeks at the top.

The album has tied with Eminem’s Recovery album for the most weeks at No.1 in Ireland’s history for a rap album (6-6 weeks at No. 1)
