Royce 5’9″ talks about NF, Yelawolf, Eminem’s “Doomsday Pt. 2”, J. Cole, Bad Meets Evil & more

Royce 5’9″ has recently done a question and answer session for his fans with his wife on Instagram where he addressed his past beef with Yelawolf, shared his opinion on Eminem’s “Doomsday Pt. 2” song, commented about NF, gave high praise to J. Cole and teases another Bad Meets Evil project.

What do you think about NF?
Is that a guy from, is he like a Christian rapper? Rap real good, Christian rap? If so, yeah, I like him. He cool.

Who is the best rapper right now?
Hm, this is a good question. I don’t know. Probably Nasaan. I’m always afraid to give my opinion because…Yo, man, I was on Joe Budden Podcast and he asked me how I felt about the state of things. He asked me about my opinion how I felt about it and a friend of mine, another rapper who you all know but I’m not gonna say his name, texted me like two paragraphs message. How did you receive this? He was challenging me or something? Why do everybody think that I’m like when I break something down, the lyrics are the only thing that matter to me. Cause he was explaining to me the importance of melody and how melody is key and it ain’t all about the lyrics. I was thinking to myself, ‘yo, what the f–k do that gotta do what I said?’ I said that J. Cole seemed like the only guy I heard in a minute that’s like being real competitive and trying to be the best. I was not just talking about his lyrics. My criteria is how many boxes he checks. I don’t like when artist feel like they have to choose one or another. Biggie could do everything, tell stories, he made complete bodies of work, super lyrical, checked all the boxes, that’s my criteria.

How was “Doomsday Pt. 2”?
Yo, I wish I could f–king…I wish I had a device that I can put on people’s heads and make them forget about that whole f–king scenario. I’m really ready for that to go away. Benzino basically went on the entire press run, putting out records and guess whose name got worked up in the mix out of nowhere? Me!

Are you and Yelawolf okay?
Yeah, we are. One thing about me is I’m not about to just sit around and just be mad at people. It’s going to get addressed and we gonna come to some sort of a solution or we gonna move on. I’m not gonna sit around and just harbor feelings about people. He didn’t do anything that was surprising to me. So it’s just another thing. But I’m not tripping about him or anybody else.

What are your thoughts on Em’s verse on Doomsday?
Why? Why do you wanna know what I think? Because all I’mma do is say my opinion and the next thing you do you all like ‘oh, he like everything he do, that’s his boss. He got to get on here and defend him all the time. Why you talking for him?!’ but you can’t name one time I talk for him. Jesus Christ! They just stick me with all of that f–king worst titles. ‘Let that white boy talk for himself, man! What you talking for?!’ Like, bro, really?

Why have not you been on BMF?
That’s a good question. You should ask 50 Cent that. Next time you see 50, matter of fact, spam him and be like ‘yo man, why you ain’t got Nickel on BMF? He sold more dope than all of them n-ggas.’

Is there another collab with Em happening?
“Man, we gon’ do whole Benzino diss EP and square this away once for all. The winner gets crowned with Global Lyrical Supremacy Forever. Whoever makes the best diss records. I’mma do PRhyme 3 and diss everybody too.” said Royce 5’9″. From there, Royce’s wife continues: “Go on Marshall’s and make sure you say we need BME 3. The fans, don’t think you don’t matter. Cause I want to hear BME 3.” Royce 5’9″ added: “I told you we going to do it.”

NF responds to people who think he dissed Eminem on “MOTTO”

In the latest episode of Lowkey Deeply, NF spoke about his upbringing, his process of writing music and mental health. The Gladwin, Michigan-born rapper also talked about how his new album titled HOPE came together and revealed if there really is a feud with Eminem.

Even though NF has cited Eminem as his biggest influence when growing up, fans think there has been going on some back and forth between the two since Slim Shady dropped Kamikaze album. In the song “The Ringer,” Marshall raps: “Last week, an ex-fan mailed me a copy / Of The Mathers LP to tell me to study / It’ll help me get back to myself and she’ll love me (ooouuu) / I mailed the b–ch back and said if I did that / I’d just be like everyone else in the f–king industry / Especially an effing Recovery clone of me (NFing).”

“An effing” is a minced way of saying “a f–king”. Em is supposedly taking a shot at NF who makes music often compared to Eminem in his Recovery era, but who refrains from using profane language in his lyrics. Eminem softens his own profanity to mock this, while simultaneously turning it into a pun on NF’s rap name.

In one of his latest singles, titled “MOTTO” NF raps: “(Oh, snap) This is the industry… (Oh, yeah) Would’ve gave anything / To be respected by the artist I was listening to / but not no more, them days are history.” Fans thought those lines were response to Eminem but the young rapper denied the rumors in the latest interview on Lowkey Deeply.

“The older I get and the more I do music I just don’t care about it as much. Some people trying to take lines like that and make personal thing towards a person specifically but overall, I’ve never felt less of a need to get the nod from anybody artist wise. Because I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished, whether or not I’m ever get the nod from the industry itself, I’m proud of the shows I’m able to do. The records I’m able to sell.” said NF.

Then he continues: “It’s not that a nod from certain artist would not mean something to me but it’s just I don’t feel the same as I would have. So yeah, the reason is, once you just have been around and you have seen the industry more, I feel like you feel just kinda shifted how I thought about the industry and music and stuff like that.”

NF shouts out Eminem and Dr. Dre on a new song

NF has recently released long awaited fifth solo studio album, titled “HOPE.”

It was announced through the album’s self-titled lead single, “HOPE”, released on February 16, 2023. This marks NF’s first full-length studio album in over three years.

The album includes a song “Turn My Back,” produced by Saint X and David Garcia, NF shows love to Eminem, Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar and others who inspired him musically.

Need grace, need love, need God, need faith
Betray, cut ties, first time, first take
Worst case, wordplay, my home, my stage
My place, less you, more Ye
More Drake, more Em, more Dre
More Cole, more Kendrick, more names
Cordae, Sean, 6LACK, my list
My names, my picks, my taste (Woo)

One of NF’s favorite artists growing up was Eminem. And as you can see, he still relates to his music.

NF and Eminem had a little battle of words before, starting with Eminem’s song “The Ringer” on the album “Kamikaze” in 2018, saying that NF copied his album Recovery, probably referring to NF’s album Therapy Session.

Even though NF didn’t name drop Eminem after the shot against him, he spat his part on his song “Returns” on the album “The Search” in 2019. And possibly addressed to this incident when he said even his idols opinions don’t matter to him anymore in the song “MOTTO” in this new album.

Even though all this happened between them, NF still counts Eminem on his list and respects his childhood idol as an artist.

Fans think NF is throwing shots at Eminem on a new song

After going viral with “HOPE,” the lead single and title track off his upcoming 5th solo studio album, rapper and producer NF has just returned with another track from the new project, titled “MOTTO.” Like its predecessor, “MOTTO” quickly climbed into the Top 10 on the Genius Top Songs chart and collected 2 million views on YouTube within 24 hours.

Produced by NF himself, “MOTTO” finds the Michigan born emcee, whose real name is Nathan Feuerstein, reflecting on his chosen path to success—and he has absolutely no regrets. He has some choice words for any critics of his career choices on the second verse.

“(Oh, snap) This is the industry… (Oh, yeah) Would’ve gave anything / To be respected by the artist I was listening to / but not no more, them days are history.” – NF raps.

As fans believe, the line could be shot at Eminem. Feuerstein has credited Em as his prime influence in hip hop, claiming that at one point Slim Shady was all he listened to.

People also believe that Eminem has previously sneak dissed NF on “The Ringer,” song from Kamikaze album. In the song, the Detroit hip-hop icon raps:

“I’d just be like everyone else in the f–king industry / Especially an effing Recovery clone of me (NFing)”

Fans in the social media are speculating that the young rapper is definitely responding Eminem on his new song. “NF FINALLY RESPONDS TO EMINEM’S DISS. The Ringer is from 2018, and Motto is from 2023.” One user said. Another said: “NF is most likely talking about Eminem in this clip. Eminem allegedly called out NF in his 2018 track “The Ringer”

Tom MacDonald thinks Eminem dissed him on “Last One Standing”

Couple of weeks ago, Skylar Grey, Mozzy, Polo G and Eminem dropped “Last One Standing,” a theme song for Venom: Let There Be Carnage movie.

In the song, Eminem continues taking shots at today’s rappers with the following lines: “Rappers, how can we be / On the same level now when I gotta look down and see these / Clowns that are on the ground? / B**ch, I got clouds beneath me.”

Tom MacDonald, who has shouted out Eminem in many occasions, thinks it’s a jab towards him and its a response to his song titled “Don’t Look Down,” where the Canadian rapper raps: “I’m scared if I look at the water, I’ll drown / So I look at the sky and deny there’s a ground / I’m not scared of the altitude up in the clouds / I’m scared of the fall, so I don’t look down.”

Tom posted the lyrics of both songs on his Instagram with the  caption: “Did Eminem REALLY diss me in his new song?”

Some people even think it’s a diss towards NF as one of the fans commented: “He could’ve dissed you, or possibly NF since he released an album called CLOUDS. Personally, the way he put “clowns” in there makes me believe it’s a jab at Tom since he made a song called Clown World, but I’m not sure.”

Check out the post below:

If you are interested in my opinion, I think Eminem didn’t say those lyrics with any particular rapper(s) in his mind. I even think Em does not care about NF or Tom MacDonald music but that’s just my opinion.
