Chinese soldier rapping Eminem’s “Mockingbird” goes viral & storms the charts

Eminem‘s “Mockingbird” is currently most streamed song from the 00’s and one of the most streamed songs in hip-hop genre on Spotify. It is also one of the most trending tracks on TikTok.

Aside from “Mockingbird,” “Without Me,” “The Real Slim Shady,” “Superman,” “Lose Yourself” and “Till I Collapse” is also charting in the Top 10.

 

After the song went viral on TikTok, one of the users decided to share an old footage of a Chinese solider rapping “Mockingbird” on the stage and it is going viral on social media.

“Mockingbird” is a song from Encore (2004), released as a single in 2005. The single peaked at No. 11 on the United State’s Billboard Hot 100, and No. 4 in the United Kingdom’s Official Singles chart.

The song earned Eminem an award at Teen Choice Awards and received a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Solo Performance, but lost to “Gold Digger” by Kanye West. “Mockingbird” is certified 5x Platinum in the United States for selling 5 million units in the country. It is also 2x Platinum in Denmark, Platinum in the United States and Italy and Gold in Australia and Germany.

Dr. Dre’s “Still D.R.E.” hits 1 billion views, Eminem sets new Spotify record following Super Bowl show

Following the Super Bowl Halftime performance, the sales and streams have dramatically increased for every artist who performed, especially Eminem.

“Lose Yourself” hit No. 1 on Genius charts and Encore surpassed 1.5 billion streams on Spotify, making Eminem the only artist on the platform to have 10 albums with 1.5 billion streams.

Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg also saw huge increase in streams and sales, especially their biggest hit song “Still D.R.E.” which has joined the billion viewers club on YouTube.

‘Cancel Eminem’ campaign boosts Eminem’s album sales

Since Gen Z started “Cancel Eminem” campaign on TikTok, Eminem’s album sales have increased significantly. As the Rolling Stone reports, this week Eminem has 5 albums in the Top 200 best selling albums in the United States.

#27 – Music To Be Murdered By – 16,700 units this week. Top selling singles include: “Godzilla,” featuring Juice WRLD, “Tone Deaf” and “Higher.”

#30 – Curtain Call: The Hits – 14,300 units this week. Top selling singles include: “Lose Yourself,” “When I’m Gone” and “Just Lose It.”

#179 – Recovery – [Re-entered] – 6,000 units this week. Top selling singles include: “Love The Way You Lie,” featuring Rihanna, “Not Afraid” and “No Love,” featuring Lil Wayne.

Benny The Butcher outsells Conway The Machine and Wetsside Gunn !

The first-week sales for Griselda Records’ own Benny The Butcher’s “Burden Of Proof” are in and Hit-Boy produced album debuted at number 27 on the US Billboard 200 chart with the sales of 19,100 album equivalent units and becomes the fastest selling rapper on his label’s history.

In 2020, Westside Gunn released two albums “Pray For Paris,” and the other “Who Made The Sunshine” under Shady Records. “Pray For Paris” was the first ever and highest entry to date for WS Gunn on the charts, which peaked at number 35 and sold 11,000 copies in the first week.

As far as Conway The Machine, besides couple of mixtapes and EPs, the buffalo rapper released one full LP, “From A King To A God” which peaked at number 126 on the Billboard charts.

Benny’s “Burden Of Proof” was led by the single “Timeless” which features Lil Wayne and Big Sean. Other guest appearances include: Westside Gunn, Conway The Machine, Rick Ross, Freddie Gibbs and among others, which, obviously helped the album to propel up.
