Back in 2022, Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb declared that August 13 is “Machine Gun Kelly Day.” This year, the third MGK Day has morphed into a five-day party in Cleveland.
The-rapper-turned-to-a-punk-rocker throw out the party for his fans where he perform his biggest hit song “Rap Devil,” a diss towards Detroit hip-hop legend, Eminem.
In his performance, MGK used Eminem’s recent “Slim Shady VS Marshall Mathers” conversations as an intro, where Eminem talks with his alter ago about Machine Gun Kelly: “MGK f–ked your mother… He did but she’s your mother too, so?”
MGK has also changed the text of the lyrics a bit. Instead of “Homie, we get it, we know that you’re the greatest rapper alive” he rapped “Homie, we get it, you’re not the greatest rapper alive (never).” You can watch the performance if you want below:
In a new interview with Entertainment Tonight, LL Cool J briefly talked about his upcoming song “Murdergram Deux” with Eminem from his highly anticipated 14th solo studio album The FORCE, which is set to be released on September 6, 2024, through Def Jam Recordings and the Virgin Music Group. The album also features guest appearances from Snoop Dogg, Fat Joe, Rick Ross, Sona Jobarteh, Saweetie, Busta Rhymes, Nas, Mad Squablz, J-S.A.N.D., and Don Pablito and is entirely produced by iconic producer Q-Tip.
Interviewer: Eminem is also featured on this album. He said, seeing you perform really inspired him and made him wanna rap. So, how much you appreciate this friendship? LL Cool J: He’s great friend. Em is a great friend. We worked together in the studio on this song “Murdergram Deux” and it’s amazing. I love him as an artist. I had a lot of fun working with all of the artists. Snoop in the studio, Em in the studio. It was just a good energy. And I’m having fun too. I ain’t taking it that serious.”

The entire “Muerdergram Deux” song was leaked few months ago. In a recent interview, LL Cool J addressed the fact and revealed that the song was not a final version: “That’s terrible man, it’s so bad. It’s not AI but it’s not official. It’s not the right version. They just be over the top and people just be dabbling and… I don’t even know why even do that. It’s like, calm down man. They all just walking on in kitchen, touching the rolls before before the s–t is done and you know just all up in the pots. Keep the food ain’t ready. You know how your grandmother slap your hand and s–t when you trying to put your hands in the pots early? That’s how I feel about this. Just cut that s–t. But it is what it is, it’s not AI, it’s a real joint.” said LL Cool J.
MC Eiht has recently sat down on VLAD TV where he talked about Dr. Dre naming Eminem the greatest emcee ever and gave Slim Shady and Kendrick Lamar their flowers.
“Cause to him, it’s basically, not to say that’s his artist but, he’s different. Not to say that Cube and Kendrick or whoever were on the same patter. Snoop? You’ve seen that. You got a team of stars and s–t but there is only one Michael Jordan. You got a team of motherf–king great f–king picture painters but there is only one Leonardo da Vinci so that’s the category he’s putting.” said MC Eiht.
Then he continues: “To me, I feel, after seeing Kendrick, now Kendrick’s a great artist, he’s quoted that. Nobody could top Cube, Cube was the s–t. So’s Snoop. Snoop’s in the lane of his own but to him, in his opinion of <I’ve worked with ni–as from this color to that color, I’ve worked with motherf–kers from singing to rapping, to Jazz to f–king whatever and in my opinion, to me, Eminem is the greatest artist I’ve come across because he’s able to do something that I have not seen anyone else do as far as what he creates>.”
“My Name Is was so crafty. I used to bang that s–t out of Hi My Name Is. It was different. He’s given us all types of music. Something that we are related to as far as the ears and the beat is just captivating but then when you hear this motherf–ker talking about school and f–king parents and s–t like that, you only imagine yourself being in his shoes as from what he came from and it was crafty than just doing something typical like Ice Ice Baby. Something like they would not expect a white artist to do. So for him to be able to come with that depression and that expression about life and what he felt about it, it was just able to captivate different audience. Eminem, Kendrick, those are different dudes. You can’t put nothing past them. You have to give them their own lane. I don’t even consider them just rappers. That motherf–kers are different. Kendrick have passed the idea of me putting a CD in my car, rolling down the street, bumping and s–t. He’s the motherf–ker that I’m about to pull over and listen to what he’s saying. FEA and Dutchie Man (Dutch) from Philadelphia hip-hop group Major Figgas have recently sat down with Math Hoffa, Mr. Mecc and the rest of the crew on the latest episode of My Expert Opinion where they briefly talked about Eminem and his new album, The Death Of Slim Shady.
Mr. Mecc: He knocked Taylor Swift off the charts. Shout out to Eminem.
Math Hoffa: Yeah, shout out to Em. I love the new album. Am I skipping? As a body of work I listen to the whole s–t. Because that’s what it is. A body of work. [If you skip past it you miss the chapter of the book]. Some people make projects that sounds like compilation. And there’s some people who make specific project that’s like it’s all wrapped together to enjoy the whole movie. You can’t watch the beginning, you can’t watch the middle, you gotta listen from start to finish. And I feel like The Death of Slim Shady is one of those projects that you have to listen from start to finish.
Dutch: He always brings out great bodies of work to me. It’s like he has a strategy with that s–t. To me, he’s not just going in there just rapping. He’s saying form beginning to the end, this book has to be a novel that people are going to read from beginning to end and get something out of every record. It’s never just going to be a throwaway with Em. Because he got ni–as like Royce around. You play your records for Royce and ni–as like him, they gonna tell you that ain’t it. I ain’t never heard Em spit a verse that wasn’t ‘that ain’t it’ verse. I’m being honest. The guy is on top of the f–king line.
After 7 years of wait, Logic has finally dropped off his 9th solo studio album Ultra 85. Clocking in at approximately an hour and 20 minutes, the 20-track effort features guest appearances from T Man The Wizard on “Mission Control,” DJ Drama on “Deja Vu,” Robert Ivory on “City in the Stars” and with ADÉ on “Ghost in the Machine,” Lucy Rose on “Interstellar” and Zelooperz on “ANTIDOTE.”
Ultra 85 follows up last year’s College Park and serves as the accompanying soundtrack to Logic’s upcoming novel of the same name — a sci-fi novel set in 2115 that follows the story of pilots Quentin and Kai.
Ultra 85 is quite literally years in the making; it was first announced in 2017 as part of the special Everybody booklet and almost didn’t see a release when Logic briefly retired from rap several years ago. There’s also some speculation about whether the project will be his last rap album after Sam Spratt, the artist who created almost all of Logic’s album covers, revealed on X that “Logic will be taking off the rap hat and going full musical producer” to create the musical score for Spratt’s Luci project.
Logic shouted out Eminem in three different songs from the new album. In the song “TELEPORT,” he raps: Made some friends and I made some M’s and I copped that Benz / Got a song with Wu, got a song with Em / Feel like this high won’t never end.” Logic flexes his collaborations with absolute hip-hop legends. He featured all of the living members of the Wu-Tang Clan on 2018’s “Wu Tang Forever.” The following year, he featured the Rap God himself, Eminem, on the song “Homicide.”
Another song where Logic shouted out Eminem is “Ghost in the Machine,” featuring Robert Ivory and Phil Adé. In the first verse, he raps “No, the game could never ban me / I’m a renegade like Em and Jay / Might as well be honest with what you say / ‘Cause no matter how you feel them f–kin’ people finna hate you anyway.” Logic addresses his position in the rap game by referencing Jay-Z and Eminem’s classic 2001 track “Renegade,” from The Blueprint album.
And lastly, Logic shouted out Eminem again on “Deja Vu,” featuring DJ Drama, a single that was released couple of months ago. In the song, he raps: “You think you got it, better get to praying / Who you know go toe-to-toe with Em? / “Homicide,” might have to go again / Student of the game, I studied him / JAY-Z, Nasir, and Rakim.” ‘Homicide’ by Logic, featuring Eminem was one of the lead singles that leads to the 5th full album from Logic, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind where it would receive and garner a positive reception. He talks about that feature with Eminem, saying that if he would ever have another Eminem feature, he will make it an effort to be on par with Eminem’s lyricism and delivery.
China clinched its first-ever Olympic gold in artistic swimming with a triumphant performance in the team event at the Paris Olympic Games 2024. After leading the first two routines in the team event, China claimed its first ever gold medal in artistic swimming at the Paris Olympics, followed by United States and Spain.
With the theme “Light of Life”, China scored 283.6934 points in the team acrobatic routine for a winning total of 996.1389. The United States took the silver medal with 914.3421, and Spain finished third on 900.7319. Host nation France ended just outside the medal placings with 886.6487.
Spain’s bronze medal win was special for Eminem fans. The swimmers danced along the Detroit legend’s magnum opus single, “Lose Yourself,” from 2002’s 8 Mile soundtracks album.

Taylor Swift once again dominates MTV Video Music Awards nominations list by getting 10 nods, including eight for her Post Malone collaboration “Fortnight” and its video. Post Malone got one extra nomination (Best Collaboration, for “I Had Some Help,” with Morgan Wallen), putting him in second overall, followed by Eminem, Ariana Grande and first-time nominee Sabrina Carpenter, who got 6 nods each. Close behind them are Megan Thee Stallion and SZA, with five each, and Blackpink’s Lisa, Olivia Rodrigo, and Teddy Swims with four nominations for 2024 MTV VMAs.
Eminem is one of the most nominated artist in the history of the MTV VMAs. The Detroit legend has been nominated for 66 times and won 13 awards, including 6 is now pending. The first win came in 1999 in “Best New Artist in a Video” category for “My Name Is” music video. The last nominations was in 2022 when his joint with Snoop Dogg, “From The D 2 The LBC” was nominated in Best Hip-Hop category but lost to Nicki Minaj’s “Do We Have a Problem?” featuring Lil Baby.
The 2024 VMAs return to New York live on the East Coast from UBS Arena on Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. The show will be held just four days shy of the 40th anniversary of the inaugural VMAs at Radio City Music Hall, where Madonna stole the show.
If Eminem wins one award, he will break out of tie with Peter Gabriel as the man with the most VMAs in history. The Rap God also extends his record for most ‘Video of the Year’ nominations in #VMAs history (8). Yesterday, original versions of some Eminem songs has surfaced online. The tracks are called: “This Is 101” (Survival) (2011), “Back And Forth” (Discombobulated) (2009) and “Careful What You Wish For” (2006).
“Survival” premiered in 2013, to promote the multiplayer trailer for the video game Call of Duty: Ghosts, and was initially released as a pre-order bonus when pre-ordering the game. The song was officially released as the second single from The Marshall Mathers LP 2 album on October 8, 2013. It features uncredited vocals in the chorus from Liz Rodrigues of the New Royales. Upon its single release, the song debuted at No. 17 on the US Billboard Hot 100, and upon the album’s release, it climbed to a new peak of No. 16. The song was originally called “This is 101” and was recorded in 2011.
“Discombobulated” (originally titled “Back And Forth”) was originally recorded in 2009 as part of the Relapse era. The track was repurposed for Music To Be Murdered By album, seeing Eminem emulate his younger self by using accents as he did throughout Relapse. On the song, the Detroit icon namedrops various rappers, such as 50 Cent, Dr. Dre, duo Tha Dogg Pound and rap-group De La Soul.
“Careful What You Wish For” is a bonus track off Relapse album. It was believed to be recorded back in 2007, during his 4 years hiatus but as recent leaks say, it was actually recorded in 2006. Unlike the rest of the Relapse album (which was executively produced by Dr. Dre) – This song was produced by Eminem, together with “Beautiful”, with additional production from Luis Resto. A year later, in 2010 Eminem made a sequel to the song, called “Almost Famous,” considering that in that song he’s talking about how he was affected by fame and in this song he’s talking about how things were prior to fame up until the point of him becoming famous.
Stand-up comedian, impressionist, and actor Aries Spears has recently sat down with DJ VLAD for an interview where the two briefly talked about Eminem‘s place in the top rappers list.
“Of course it’s all subjective. You ain’t gotta say he’s your favorite MC but I think to not put him in the top 10, even if he’s number 10, I think that’s insane. When you really look at his lyrical ability, metaphors, punchlines, double entendres, and the skill in which it takes to rap how can you say he’s not one of the most skillful dudes in the game?” said Aries Spears.
Then Aries Spears commented on Dr. Dre saying that no other rapper can touch Eminem: “There are guys who can touch him. Absolutely. Nas can touch him. Jadakiss can touch him. Jay-Z can touch him. And if he was alive, Biggie can touch him. Rakim could touch him. Big Daddy Kane can touch him. But let’s not lie to each other, there are people out there who just not accept a white guy playing in a black genre and being just as good or better than some other black guys. Some of the militant brothers just ain’t gonna allow that. And they gonna hold against him.” said Aries Spears.
Then he continued: “Eminem is one of the top five. He is in my top five but [generally] with the five to ten, he’s definitely there, I couldn’t put him any less than ten… [Dr. Dre said that because…] A white boy who’s that dope, there is an extra shine on it. It’s like If I own 15 tigers and one of them is white, what stands out? The other 14? It’s a great example because it’s rare. Those other tons on white rappers, are they even close to be as good as Eminem? Eminem is number one and then there is huge gap. Who really out there as a white rapper is in Eminem’s rearview mirror? [Mac Miller, Machine Gun Kelly, Jack Harlow] all of them are not even close, remotely.”

Detroit’s own Big Sean released an introspective new song. “On Up” reflects on the lessons of fatherhood and Sean’s desire to instill a sense of resilience in him: “I look into my son’s eyes and still see his innocence/I see my inner child in him and still the remnants.” The song is dedicated to his son, Noah Hasani, and samples Jodeci’s “Get On Up.” The music video, directed by the child’s godfather Lawrence Lamont, is filmed from the point of view of the baby. The video follows a day in the child’s life and features parents Big Sean and Jhené Aiko.
“On Up” is the 3rd single from Sean’s sixth solo studio album titled Better Me Than You. The song follows the comeback single “Precision” and “Yes,” which debuted on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. The album is is set to be released on August 9, 2024 under Def Jam Recordings. In the music video of “On UP,” Big Sean is rocking an Eminem t-shirt, which was sold exclusively on Slim Shady’ws website.
Big Sean also shared another glimpse into the introspective delivery that appears to be Better Me Than You earlier this week. In another trailer, he goes into depth on the album’s title. “It’s usually ‘better you than me,’ but when you’re that one that has to step up and endure it all, endure the extras … When you gotta be that one, you realize you were only put there because you can handle it because that’s the way God made it for you. So you realize, ‘alright, better me than you’ because I’m the one who can do it.”
Eminem took the stage for a rare performance at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles on August 3, 2024, running through a medley of some of his greatest hits at the start of the WB junior middleweight boxing match between Terence Crawford and Israil Madrimov.
The Detroit legend, who most recently released his chart-topping 12th solo studio album “The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce),” performed in support of Crawford, who he previously walked out at a match in Las Vegas last year. The 15-minute set took place before the square-off, with Slim Shady opening the set with his latest chart-topping single “Houdini.”
Eminem hit double speed during “Rap God” before shouting out his choice boxer. “Yo California, make some motherf–kin’ noise for Terence Crawford!” he declared, running through “Till I Collapse” featuring the late Nate Dogg and playing a brief snippet of Queen’s iconic song “We Will Rock You.” It culminated in the appropriately picked “Cinderella Man” and concluded with magnum opus song “Lose Yourself.”
Crawford won the match with scores of 116-112, 115-113 and 115-113 to become a four-division champion. He told ESPN, “Israil was a tough competitor. I knew he was going to be tough. … He’s real strong, he’s durable, he took a lot of good shots and he got me to Round 12. … He had fast feet, good rhythm upstairs. … He was waiting to counter me just like I was trying to counter him.”
Em’s performance is the latest surrounding “The Death of Slim Shady.” In June, he gave a surprise four-song set at “Live From Detroit: The Concert at Michigan Central,” a hometown event featuring Diana Ross, Big Sean, Jack White and more to celebrate the grand reopening of Michigan Central Station. Last month, he took the stage alongside Dr. Dre in London for the launch of his mentor’s Gin & Juice drinks line.
It’s very rare to see Eminem popping up for a live performance these days. The often reclusive Rap God has been more visible lately as he promotes his latest chart-topping album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce), including a totally surprising hop-up in London on Thursday night (July 18, 2024) to support his long-time friend and mentor Dr. Dre.
Slim Shady surprised the crowd at the launch event for Doctor’s new canned drinks line with Snoop Dogg, called Gin & Juice, when he jumped on stage at Flippers Boogie Palace to join the party hosted by former NBA great Shaquille O’Neal. But first, Dre and Snoop rolled through a set of some of their most beloved songs, including “The Next Episode,” “Drop It Like It’s Hot” and “Nuthin’ But a G Thang” at the event attended by celebrities like LeBron James, Idris Elba, Virgil Van Dijk and Jude Bellingham among others.
Near the end of the set Dre introduced Eminem, who ripped through the first single from The Death of Slim Shady, “Houdini” with Denaun Porter before they kicked “Forgot About Dre” togther. Em shared the video of his “Houdini” performance on his official YouTube channel.
Though Em has not announced a run of dates to support his new album, he will appear alongside Muse, Thirty Seconds to Mars and Richie Hawtin at this year’s Soundstorm festival in Saudi Arabia in December. Before that, Eminem is set to perform at Crawford/Madrimov fight night on August 2 and he and Sting will headline the Germania Insurance Super Stage at the 2024 Formula 1 Pirelli United States Grand Prix on October 18-20th!
