Sauce Walka crowns Eminem as the king of Detroit, 2026

Sauce Walka Praises Eminem’s Detroit Legacy and Shady Records

Posted on March 27, 2026 By Remy Gelenidze

In a recent sit-down on SAY CHEESE, Houston titan and The Sauce Factory founder Sauce Walka offered a high-stakes perspective on Eminem’s standing in the rap game. Speaking with Shawn Cotton, Walka bypassed the typical lyrical debates to focus on Slim Shady’s authenticity and his undeniable impact on the infrastructure of Detroit’s music scene. For Walka, Eminem’s legacy is built as much on his executive moves and loyalty to his roots as it is on his multi-platinum discography.

During the interview, Sauce Walka broke down why he considers Marshall Mathers the pinnacle of the Motor City, stating: “Eminem is the greatest n-gga in Detroit and he can say ‘I’m the greatest in Detroit, not just because ‘I’m white rapper that outrapped you n-ggas that represented this Detroit style, but I did start record label, real reputable, real street, real Detroit people that got real history and every mile 1 through 12 is in this b-tch. I’m Proof. I’m Bizarre. I’m all of these different real motherf–kers after I got put on by Dr. Dre. And then I put on 50 Cent.”

Walka’s commentary sheds light on the street-level respect Eminem earned by championing figures like Proof and the rest of D12, ensuring that “every mile” of the city was represented on a global stage. By highlighting the formation of Shady Records and the subsequent rise of 50 Cent, Walka argues that Eminem’s greatness is defined by his ability to create a “real reputable” platform for authentic Detroit voices. This acknowledgment from a southern street veteran underscores the cross-regional respect Eminem commands for his business acumen and commitment to hip-hop’s foundational history.

While a direct collaboration between Sauce Walka and Eminem has yet to surface, the “Drip God” has a seasoned history of working with the Shady Records lineage. Walka has frequently linked up with former Shady standout Conway the Machine on heavy-hitters like “Super Bowl” and “Dangerous Daringer.” Furthermore, he bridged the gap between Texas and Michigan by collaborating with Royce da 5’9″ on the 2023 single “Angels Will Fly,” proving that his ties to the Detroit elite run deep.
