Skylar Grey announces new album, will Eminem appear? Posted on March 10, 2026March 10, 2026 By Remy Gelenidze Skylar Grey has officially set the stage for her next musical chapter, announcing her sixth studio album, Wasted Potential, slated for release on May 22, 2026. This announcement follows a productive streak for the singer-songwriter, who recently released the single “Come” on March 6. The upcoming project is described as a deeply personal “coming of age” story, rooted in the memories of her formative years in Wisconsin before she moved to Los Angeles to pursue her career. While the full tracklist for Wasted Potential remains under wraps, the million-dollar question for fans is whether her longtime mentor and collaborator, Eminem, will make an appearance. While no official confirmation has been made regarding a Slim Shady feature on this specific project, history suggests it is always a possibility. Their creative partnership is one of the most enduring in hip-hop; Grey recently appeared on Eminem’s 2024 album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), on the emotional track “Temporary,” proving their “musical chemistry” is as active as ever. The bond between Grey and Eminem dates back to 2010 when she penned the hook for the massive hit “Love the Way You Lie.” Since then, she has become the “unofficial queen of Shady Records hooks,” appearing on nearly every Eminem project for the last decade. From the haunting vocals on “I Need a Doctor” (alongside Dr. Dre) to solo-led tracks like “C’mon Let Me Ride” and the Venom soundtrack’s “Last One Standing,” the two have collaborated on over a dozen songs. Grey even made history as the first solo female producer on an Eminem track with “Leaving Heaven” in 2020.Outside of the Shady-verse, Grey has been remarkably busy. In late 2025, she released her fifth studio album, Angel With Tattoos, which expanded on her 2019 EP of the same name. She has also spent the last year exploring diverse genres, collaborating with electronic artists like Seven Lions and Subtronics, and even working with country-rock crossover star Jelly Roll on “Past Yesterday.” These ventures highlight a refined independence in her career, as she now releases music through her own partnership with Casual Media Partners. As May approaches, Wasted Potential looks to be Grey’s most self-reflective work yet. Singles like “Motivation” and “Nirvana” have already hinted at an album that balances tongue-in-cheek humor with raw honesty about the music industry. Whether Eminem lends a verse to this “childhood-based” narrative or simply cheers from the sidelines as an executive supporter, the album marks a significant milestone in Skylar Grey’s evolution from a sought-after songwriter to a fully realized independent force.Check out Skylar Grey’s announcement below: Album announced!
