Former manager of D12 and marketing consultant for Shady Records, Mark Hicks was recently interviewed on Panda CHOP! News where he talked about Eminem and what he contributes to the culture.
“People don’t know 95% of what Eminem contributes to the culture. I’m dead serious. He does so much but one of the things with Em and Paul Rosenberg, they do so much nice stuff for our community but they don’t want to be acknowledged. That’s one of the things. I don’t know if its biblical, I think it’s little bit biblical but they are great people.” said Mark Hicks.
Then he continued: “People be like ‘yo, f–k Em.’ This new era of Detroit rappers, and some of them are very successful, they will diss Em. They will be like, ‘man, I won’t be like Em. He ain’t do nothing for the city. It’s the most dumbest s–t you could ever say because he do so much and he brought down doors. I’ve seen it with my own eyes. We’ve been all around the world and he’s telling people ‘We know you got New York, we know you got LA, I know you are taking a look at Florida but there is so much talented people in Detroit. Em has always been a flag bearer of Detroit and Michigan in general.”
“People on the same level as him, his contemporaries, they don’t really do s–t. But you got Em who does so much s–t behind the scenes. Em cares about Michigan and it’s crazy to see 22 years old rappers s–ting on Em. And then it comes to the point where just because Em didn’t give you million dollar deal he’s the enemy. What the f–k sense does that make? ” Mark Hicks added.
