In the latest episode of Joe and Jada podcast, Fat Joe and Jadakiss are joined by two legends in the hip-hop game, as super-producers Hit-Boy and The Alchemist sit down to discuss their upcoming collaboration album ‘Goldfish.’
Joe and Jada ask Hit-Boy about his most iconic records, including “Sicko Mode” by Travis Scott featuring Drake, “A Milli” by Lil Wayne, “Backstreet Freestyle” by Kendrick Lamar, and “N****s In Paris” by Jay-Z and Kanye West. The Alchemist talks about his work with Havoc and Prodigy as Mobb Deep’s unofficial third member, Joe giving him his big break by hopping on the remix to Cypress Hill’s “Tequila Sunrise,” Eminem’s superhuman work ethic, and an UNHINGED story from being in the studio with Joe and Big Pun. Joe also tells a story about an unfortunate run-in he had with Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak at an awards show.
“Shout out to Eminem. We don’t talk about him enough on this platform. He’s my brother. He’s my friend. I remember when I said I was retiring, I was in my mother’s house. My phone rang from an unknown number. I picked it up and it was Marshall. He talked to me for two hours. I was like, I wanted to knock on neighbor’s houses like ‘yo, this is Eminem talking to me for an hour, talking to me off the retirement list. That’s one of the biggest honors I’ve every had. And to have that relationship with him is amazing. When Eminem came out, me and Big Pun where on line. We waited on line for his album. And you ain’t waiting in line for that album if wasn’t the guy! He was phenomenal. He was incredible.” said Fat Joe.
Then Alchemist continued: “He changed s–t. You think we work hard? I’ve never seen nobody work like him to this day. Right now, he’s in the studio, I could put bet on it. He’s working every day. On tour, headphone in the hotel room, writing.”
“I remember when I got him on “Lean Back” remix, he sent the same verse 30 times. It was the same verse, but he would say the word a little different, or say it this way. He was like, ‘yo, yo hold up. Sending you another verse.’ But it’s a SAME VERSE but with a different tone or cadence, 30 times! And I’m like, ‘IS THIS THE ONE?!’ He is a perfectionist man.” Fat Joe added.
