Rory & Mal discuss JID leaving out Eminem feature off his upcoming album

“Animals (Pt. I)” is a ferocious collaboration between JID and Eminem, released on July 4, 2025, as the closing track of JID’s surprise EP GDLU (Preluxe). This four-song EP dropped ahead of his main album, God Does Like Ugly, which is set to release in August.

JID explained this project is comprised of four songs that almost made it onto the full album—but he chose to drop them separately to preserve the main album’s focus. Notably, “Animals (Pt. I)” didn’t fit the overarching tone he was crafting.

Fans of Eminem were confused about JID’s decision. Some of them criticized him for leaving out Eminem feature from the main album. Rory and Mal has also discussed JID’s decision during their latest episode of their podcast.

“Have we ever seen a situation where Eminem give somebody a verse and does not make the album? JID may have just made history with this move. Have we ever seen Eminem give an artist a verse and they leave it off of the album?” said Mal during the discussion. Watch the full thing below:
