Legendary Flavor Flav has recently sat down on Outta Pocket with RGIII, where he talked about the impact of Public Enemy, overcoming the doubters in your life, why the street life isn’t where it’s at and why rap battles like Kendrick Lamar and Drakes are so much fun. Flavor Flav discusses RUN DMC, breaking the color barrier in Hip Hop with the Beastie Boys and why Eminem is the greatest regardless of his skin color.
“Right now, to this day, Eminem is the best rapper alive. Nobody could beat out Eminem. There has been people who tried to battle Eminem but every battle Eminem got into Eminem took them out. When you keep winning, that means you’re the best.” said Flavor Flav.
Then he continued: “When Eminem was coming out, spitting his flows, he was more like a hood, more like the streets. Vanilla Ice didn’t come from that world. Eminem came from the streets. Straight from the gutter. He was definitely accepted because he knew what the f–k he was talking about. He was the best. He got with the bests. He got with Snoop, he got with Dre.”
“When I first met Eminem, I didn’t know who he was and he went absolutely crazy over me. Then I learned who he was, you don’t know how much of an honor it was to receive the love from a guy like that. And it was real!” Flavor Flav added.
When he was asked if Eminem could be considered greatest of all time despite his skin color, he reploed: “When nobody can beat you, you are the champ, you are the best, your are the greatest. Like Muhammad Ali was. Same thing with Eminem. That’s why I say he’s the best cause I’ve not seen anybody to beat him out yet. So like I said, it ain’t about color. It’s about who you are inside and how you carry yourself.”
