50 Cent’s “In Da Club” goes diamond!

50 Cent’s 2003 smash hit “In Da Club,” produced by Dr. Dre has officially been certified diamond by the The Recording Industry Association of America, marking the New York legend’s first diamond-certified song.

50 Cent celebrated the achievement on X, posting the cover art on Instagram from his 9x-platinum blockbuster Eminem’s Shady Records debut album Get Rich or Die Tryin’ alongside a graphic of the diamond certification and the video on X.

“In Da Club has officially reached Diamond. 10,000,000 singles sold. The 43rd Hip Hop song to go Diamond, 121 songs of all time to do it. I feel good I’m that thing 50cent.” he wrote in the caption.

In a separate post commemorating the moment he wrote, “Diamonds are forever. Yo that thing 50 cent is no joke.”

The song additionally surpassed over 1.3 billion Spotify streams and 1.9 billion YouTube views on its music video. The 2003 single continues to average around 43 million streams per week worldwide.

Ed Sheeran’s acoustic rendition of “In Da Club” received acclaim from 50 Cent, but his supporters strongly disagree.

The British mega pop star opened up for John Mayer at his Heart and Armor Foundation concert in Los Angeles on Tuesday (September 19, 2023), where he delved into a series of folk covers during his set — one of which included 50 Cent’s arguably biggest hit in hip-hop history, “In Da Club,” from Get Rich Or Die Tryin’.

The Queens, New York legend gave his stamp of approval to the guitar-driven rendition of his party-starting tune by reposting a video of Sheeran’s performance to his Instagram.

“Ed Sheeran right now in LA at the John Mayer concert Killing s–t ! BOOM,” Fif wrote in the caption.

His Final Lap tour mate Busta Rhymes was also impressed by what he heard as he left a series of fire emojis in the comments section of Fiddy’s Instagram post.

50 Cent celebrates 18 years of “In Da Club” by thanking Eminem

On this day, exactly 18 years ago, (January 7, 2003) 50 Cent dropped Grammy-nominated, Billboard No.1 and critically acclaimed single “In Da Club,” from his debut album, Get Rich Or Die Tryin’.

In 2010, the song was ranked 448th in Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Songs of All Time list and in 2020 the song hit 1 billion views on YouTube.

“In Da Club” was recorded in 2002 and is produced by Dr. Dre, DJ Quik and Mike Elizondo. The music video of the song also features cameos from Eminem and Dre.

To celebrate 18 years anniversary, 50 Cent to twitter to thank Eminem for the success of the song: “You ain’t gonna believe this one but 18 years ago today I dropped a song I recorded in Los Angeles and it is still spinning 1,000 times a week at radio. I tell Eminem I love him for what he did for me, he put me on.
