Spain wins bronze medal at Paris Olympics in artistic swimming while dancing to an Eminem song

China clinched its first-ever Olympic gold in artistic swimming with a triumphant performance in the team event at the Paris Olympic Games 2024. After leading the first two routines in the team event, China claimed its first ever gold medal in artistic swimming at the Paris Olympics, followed by United States and Spain.

With the theme “Light of Life”, China scored 283.6934 points in the team acrobatic routine for a winning total of 996.1389. The United States took the silver medal with 914.3421, and Spain finished third on 900.7319. Host nation France ended just outside the medal placings with 886.6487.

Spain’s bronze medal win was special for Eminem fans. The swimmers danced along the Detroit legend’s magnum opus single, “Lose Yourself,” from 2002’s 8 Mile soundtracks album.

Another said: “Listening to #LoseYourself #Eminem at the synchronized swimming competition in the #Olympics2024 is another level! go #Spain !!!.” Someone tweeted: “the Olympics are great because what do you mean Spain is artistically swimming to Eminem?!” Another replied: “There are not one but at least two synchronized/artistic swimming teams that are using Eminem as part of their music? Shout out to Spain for combining it w Carmina Burabw – O Fortuna.”

Eminem receives 6 nominations at 2024 MTV VMAs

Taylor Swift once again dominates  MTV Video Music Awards nominations list by getting 10 nods, including eight for her Post Malone collaboration “Fortnight” and its video. Post Malone got one extra nomination (Best Collaboration, for “I Had Some Help,” with Morgan Wallen), putting him in second overall, followed by Eminem, Ariana Grande and first-time nominee Sabrina Carpenter, who got 6 nods each. Close behind them are Megan Thee Stallion and SZA, with five each, and Blackpink’s Lisa, Olivia Rodrigo, and Teddy Swims with four nominations for 2024 MTV VMAs.

Eminem is one of the most nominated artist in the history of the MTV VMAs. The Detroit legend has been nominated for 66 times and won 13 awards, including 6 is now pending. The first win came in 1999 in “Best New Artist in a Video” category for “My Name Is” music video. The last nominations was in 2022 when his joint with Snoop Dogg, “From The D 2 The LBC” was nominated in Best Hip-Hop category but lost to Nicki Minaj’s “Do We Have a Problem?” featuring Lil Baby.

The 2024 VMAs return to New York live on the East Coast from UBS Arena on Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. The show will be held just four days shy of the 40th anniversary of the inaugural VMAs at Radio City Music Hall, where Madonna stole the show.

If Eminem wins one award, he will break out of tie with Peter Gabriel as the man with the most VMAs in history. The Rap God also extends his record for most ‘Video of the Year’ nominations in #VMAs history (8). Some OG versions of old Eminem songs surfaces online

Yesterday, original versions of some Eminem songs has surfaced online. The tracks are called: “This Is 101” (Survival) (2011), “Back And Forth” (Discombobulated) (2009) and “Careful What You Wish For” (2006).

“Survival” premiered in 2013, to promote the multiplayer trailer for the video game Call of Duty: Ghosts, and was initially released as a pre-order bonus when pre-ordering the game. The song was officially released as the second single from The Marshall Mathers LP 2 album on October 8, 2013. It features uncredited vocals in the chorus from Liz Rodrigues of the New Royales. Upon its single release, the song debuted at No. 17 on the US Billboard Hot 100, and upon the album’s release, it climbed to a new peak of No. 16. The song was originally called “This is 101” and was recorded in 2011.

“Discombobulated” (originally titled “Back And Forth”)  was originally recorded in 2009 as part of the Relapse era. The track was repurposed for Music To Be Murdered By album, seeing Eminem emulate his younger self by using accents as he did throughout Relapse. On the song, the Detroit icon namedrops various rappers, such as 50 Cent, Dr. Dre, duo Tha Dogg Pound and rap-group De La Soul.

“Careful What You Wish For” is a bonus track off Relapse album. It was believed to be recorded back in 2007, during his 4 years hiatus but as recent leaks say, it was actually recorded in 2006. Unlike the rest of the Relapse album (which was executively produced by Dr. Dre) – This song was produced by Eminem, together with “Beautiful”, with additional production from Luis Resto. A year later, in 2010 Eminem made a sequel to the song, called “Almost Famous,” considering that in that song he’s talking about how he was affected by fame and in this song he’s talking about how things were prior to fame up until the point of him becoming famous.

Aries Spears on new Eminem album: “If he’s not in your top 10, you are insane”

Stand-up comedian, impressionist, and actor Aries Spears has recently sat down with DJ VLAD for an interview where the two briefly talked about Eminem‘s place in the top rappers list.

“Of course it’s all subjective. You ain’t gotta say he’s your favorite MC but I think to not put him in the top 10, even if he’s number 10, I think that’s insane. When you really look at his lyrical ability, metaphors, punchlines, double entendres, and the skill in which it takes to rap how can you say he’s not one of the most skillful dudes in the game?” said Aries Spears.

Then Aries Spears commented on Dr. Dre saying that no other rapper can touch Eminem:  “There are guys who can touch him. Absolutely. Nas can touch him. Jadakiss can touch him. Jay-Z can touch him. And if he was alive, Biggie can touch him. Rakim could touch him. Big Daddy Kane can touch him. But let’s not lie to each other, there are people out there who just not accept a white guy playing in a black genre and being just as good or better than some other black guys. Some of the militant brothers just ain’t gonna allow that. And they gonna hold against him.” said Aries Spears.

Then he continued: “Eminem is one of the top five. He is in my top five but [generally] with the five to ten, he’s definitely there, I couldn’t put him any less than ten… [Dr. Dre said that because…] A white boy who’s that dope, there is an extra shine on it. It’s like If I own 15 tigers and one of them is white, what stands out? The other 14? It’s a great example because it’s rare. Those other tons on white rappers, are they even close to be as good as Eminem? Eminem is number one and then there is huge gap. Who really out there as a white rapper is in Eminem’s rearview mirror? [Mac Miller, Machine Gun Kelly, Jack Harlow] all of them are not even close, remotely.”

Big Sean rocks Eminem t-shirt in new music video

Detroit’s own Big Sean released an introspective new song. “On Up” reflects on the lessons of fatherhood and Sean’s desire to instill a sense of resilience in him: “I look into my son’s eyes and still see his innocence/I see my inner child in him and still the remnants.” The song is dedicated to his son, Noah Hasani, and samples Jodeci’s “Get On Up.” The music video, directed by the child’s godfather Lawrence Lamont, is filmed from the point of view of the baby. The video follows a day in the child’s life and features parents Big Sean and Jhené Aiko.

“On Up” is the 3rd single from Sean’s sixth solo studio album titled Better Me Than You. The song follows the comeback single “Precision” and “Yes,” which debuted on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. The album is is set to be released on August 9, 2024 under Def Jam Recordings. In the music video of “On UP,” Big Sean is rocking an Eminem t-shirt, which was sold exclusively on Slim Shady’ws website.

Big Sean also shared another glimpse into the introspective delivery that appears to be Better Me Than You earlier this week. In another trailer, he goes into depth on the album’s title. “It’s usually ‘better you than me,’ but when you’re that one that has to step up and endure it all, endure the extras … When you gotta be that one, you realize you were only put there because you can handle it because that’s the way God made it for you. So you realize, ‘alright, better me than you’ because I’m the one who can do it.”

Eminem performs at Terence Crawford and Israil Madrimov fight

Eminem took the stage for a rare performance at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles on August 3, 2024, running through a medley of some of his greatest hits at the start of the WB junior middleweight boxing match between Terence Crawford and Israil Madrimov.

The Detroit legend, who most recently released his chart-topping 12th solo studio album “The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce),” performed in support of Crawford, who he previously walked out at a match in Las Vegas last year. The 15-minute set took place before the square-off, with Slim Shady opening the set with his latest chart-topping single “Houdini.”

Eminem hit double speed during “Rap God” before shouting out his choice boxer. “Yo California, make some motherf–kin’ noise for Terence Crawford!” he declared, running through “Till I Collapse” featuring the late Nate Dogg and playing a brief snippet of Queen’s iconic song “We Will Rock You.” It culminated in the appropriately picked “Cinderella Man” and concluded with magnum opus song “Lose Yourself.”

Crawford won the match with scores of 116-112, 115-113 and 115-113 to become a four-division champion. He told ESPN, “Israil was a tough competitor. I knew he was going to be tough. … He’s real strong, he’s durable, he took a lot of good shots and he got me to Round 12. … He had fast feet, good rhythm upstairs. … He was waiting to counter me just like I was trying to counter him.”

Em’s performance is the latest surrounding “The Death of Slim Shady.” In June, he gave a surprise four-song set at “Live From Detroit: The Concert at Michigan Central,” a hometown event featuring Diana Ross, Big Sean, Jack White and more to celebrate the grand reopening of Michigan Central Station. Last month, he took the stage alongside Dr. Dre in London for the launch of his mentor’s Gin & Juice drinks line.

It’s very rare to see Eminem popping up for a live performance these days. The often reclusive Rap God has been more visible lately as he promotes his latest chart-topping album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce), including a totally surprising hop-up in London on Thursday night (July 18, 2024) to support his long-time friend and mentor Dr. Dre.

Slim Shady surprised the crowd at the launch event for Doctor’s new canned drinks line with Snoop Dogg, called Gin & Juice, when he jumped on stage at Flippers Boogie Palace to join the party hosted by former NBA great Shaquille O’Neal. But first, Dre and Snoop rolled through a set of some of their most beloved songs, including “The Next Episode,” “Drop It Like It’s Hot” and “Nuthin’ But a G Thang” at the event attended by celebrities like LeBron James, Idris Elba, Virgil Van Dijk and Jude Bellingham among others.

Near the end of the set Dre introduced Eminem, who ripped through the first single from The Death of Slim Shady, “Houdini” with Denaun Porter before they kicked “Forgot About Dre” togther. Em shared the video of his “Houdini” performance on his official YouTube channel.

Though Em has not announced a run of dates to support his new album, he will appear alongside Muse, Thirty Seconds to Mars and Richie Hawtin at this year’s Soundstorm festival in Saudi Arabia in December. Before that, Eminem is set to perform at Crawford/Madrimov fight night on August 2 and he and Sting will headline the Germania Insurance Super Stage at the 2024 Formula 1 Pirelli United States Grand Prix on October 18-20th!

A$AP Rocky namedrops Eminem in a new song with Denzel Curry

It’s been a while! Denzel Curry‘s King of the Mischievous South Vol. 2 has finally arrived.

Clocking in at nearly 35 minutes, the 15-track project honors the great musical heritages of the South with its extensive list of featured artists who hail from the region: Curry’s former Raider Klan member Key Nyata, Juicy J, Project Pat, Maxo Kream, That Mexican OT, Mike Dimes, TiaCorine, 2 Chainz, Kenny Mason, Ski Mask The Slump God and PlayThatBoiZay, along with special guests Armani White, A$AP Ferg and A$AP Rocky.

King of the Mischievous South Vol. 2 arrives 12 long years after its predecessor and is a perfect homage to Curry’s Southern roots. Across the 15 tracks, he and his collaborators show why the region has been so influential in music and even proves that the South is here to stay for a long time.

A$AP Rocky and PlayThatBoiZay are featured on a track called “HOODLUMZ,” in which Pretty Flacko namedrops Eminem with the following lines: “My weird homie rock a blonde lace like ’98 Eminem. Him again, nail paint, art, hell nah, I ain’t feminine.” Is A$AP Rocky making fun of trans people and mentions Eminem? Either way, it seems just another weak bar. You can listen to the song below:

T3 of Slum Village & Mr. Mecc give Eminem his flowers

T3 of Detroit’s legendary hip-hop group Slum Village has recently sat down with Math Hoffa and Mr. Mecc on My Expert Opinion alongside with Young RJ where they discussed “Nobody bumping Eminem in the hood or a car” narrative.

“I co-host couple of Em’s battles. He was killing it. Em was always dope. I remember Em’s first demos man, it was ridiculous. I was like, DAMN. [Nobody bumping Eminem in a car] narrative is crazy. Eminem is a GOAT. Let’s just keep it there. Em is a GOAT bro, I ain’t even let you go there. When you say that, you gotta start about the inception of him though. The inception of Em when he first dropped everybody was listening. I don’t care if you was in the hood. You were listening to what he was saying! YOU ARE LISTENING! So I ain’t buying that.” said T3.

It seems Math Hoffa agreed the narrative by saying “Em’s appealing to me because of the lyricism and the creativity but we are not on the block selling nothing… and people who say that are talking about the hood hood.” but then Mr. Mecc interfered: “I hate that bro, every block ain’t selling. And you have to remember that’s YOUR S–T. Those singles can’t do what they do if they are not being playing all over the f–king place. And if you didn’t turn up Eminem in your specific car, that’s cool. Just remember you wasn’t in every car and people who played Eminem in their car was not offering you a ride. So shut the f–k up. Just be quiet. Just remember those cars that was playing the records, you was not in. Stop trying to s–t on people.”

In the latest episode of Joe Budden Podcast, Joe Budden and the crew discussed Eminem‘s new chart-topping album The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce). You can check out the conversation below:

Parks: I love it man. It feels refreshing to hear the s–t he’s talking about on this album. Like, anti-cancel-culture s–t. All that. It felt good to hear him have fun with the music. It seems like everything since Recovery has been very serious or anthematic, which is cool but I liked the silly s–t.”

Officially Ice: This album made me fully understand, like you said anti-cancel-culture s–t, I look at Em, when he does this, as like rap’s Dave Chappelle, where the real message is Free Speech. I listened to the album in order because I did see his post about this is a conceptual album and listened to it in order and I understand what he meant. It’s Slim Shady getting his s–t off and then it’s Eminem or Marshall or whatever, kind of fighting back. That Guilty Conscience 2 record, really breaks it down. It’s a conversation between Slim and Em. One record and I know y’all gonna kill me, is a record that’s called Temporary. He’s literally talking to his daughter how to proceed when he leaves here. I was driving in a car. I listened to the album, I was on a road trip for two hours, I played it, I had lyrics on the screen and I did cry, no bulls–t. He got audio clips of his daughter when she was little playing throughout the song. He literally said, play this after I die. It sneaks in the album. You are not ready for that record. He really really smoked the album. I look at Em’s career as pre-Recovery and post-Recovery. This is number 2 in his post-Recovery albums. Right after Music To Be Murdered By which is still amazing. A lot of people like that f–ked up comedy style. Even if it’s not politically correct to admit today, you like offensive comedy, you like offensive jokes, we all like it. So when he’s doing it, and anybody could get it, he talked about little people, fat people, deaf people. He talked about everybody in this songs, everybody that you are not supposed to mention. He has brought the R word back. Em really smoked the album. I like its concept and it makes me want to see where he goes next after that. Shouts out to everybody on there. That Jelly Roll record is crazy.

Joe Budden: I’m sorry, y’all talked enough. I will eventually listen to this album but I have not yet. I ain’t even thought about it yet. If I went on a road trip I would have heard it also but maybe my life is litter than you guys is. In my younger years I could not imagine a day where I didn’t run to an Eminem project, excluding him dissing me on Kamikaze album. I know where he stands as an MC. I know what he does. But I didn’t feel that urgency. I don’t care about none of the Slim Shady s–t. I don’t care about Jennifer Aniston or whoever he’s dissing, Nick Storm or whoever he’s dissing. For me, Slim Shady helped me to live and stay alive and deal with depression. Back then, that’s what he did for me. I was never into that funny s–t but he caught one with GUESS WHO’S BACK, BACK AGAIN. I like that one. I’m going to check out the Em album but I felt good that I have outgrown the urgency of having to rush to it.

Eminem to headline concert in Saudi Arabia for the first time ever

The GOAT is back. MDLBeast Soundstorm 2024 is returning to Riyadh which takes place from December 12, 2024 to December 14, 2024 and the first act of the highly anticipated music festival has been announced. Get ready to welcome Eminem to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Slim Shady will be headlining MDLBeast Soundstorm in Riyadh. While the exact date of his performance hasn’t been announced yet, we know that it’s going to be one for the books. Additionally, this will mark Eminem’s first-ever concert in Saudi Arabia. And if you’re someone who has lived in the Kingdom, you probably already know how big of a deal he is in the region.

Eminem is no stranger to Riyadh though. Last year, during his epic walk to the ring at Sin City’s T-Mobile Arena, Terence Crawford was joined by Eminem as the Detroit legend’s 8 Mile hit song “Lose Yourself” boomed throughout the packed venue. “Las Vegas, make motherf–king noise for the next undisputed welterweight champion of the world, Terence ‘Bud’ f—ing Crawford,” Eminem yelled to the roaring crowd.

MDLBeast Soundstorm is the region’s biggest music festival. The festival started in 2019 and has attracted local and international musical acts. Taking place on the outskirts of Riyadh, the festival is like the Glastonbury of the Middle East, just in the middle of the desert rather than a muddy field.

Apart from Emimen, fans are expecting several other A-list acts, blockbuster sets and a whole lot of fun. Eminem takes pictures with fans in London as he attends Slim Shady’s funeral

Eminem’s alter ego, Slim Shady, is receiving a memorial in London!

On Monday, July 15, 2024 the iconic rapper Eminem from Detroit turned to his Instagram handle to announce the London dates of his exclusive pop-up to celebrate the release of his latest album, The Death of Slim Shady.

Marking July 17 and 18 as the dates to say a proper farewell to the late Slim Shady, he wrote:  “A proper farewell to Slim Shady in London. Join us on July 17th & 18th for the @complex pop-up experience to celebrate the release of The Death of Slim Shady at 59 Greek Street in Soho. #TheDeathofSlimShady.”

Partnered with Complex, the limited edition pop-up merchandise includes album-specific hoodies, shirts, and hats, along with the rapper’s vinyl collection that explores his entire catalog of 12 albums, including the rare tracks.

The pop-up is a combination of a memorial and an art exhibition, featuring Slim Shady-centric art and photography and a symbolic casket for the attendees to bid farewell to the iconic wordsmith. Previously, Los Angeles witnessed the merchandise and memorial on July 12–14 at Complex, LA, 433 N. Fairfax Avenue.
