Ab-Soul pays homage to Eminem on new album

West-coast’s finest Ab-Soul has always been a mercurial presence, and when he fully locks in, he’s an absolute beast. On his new album Soul Burger, Ab-Soul goes absolutely nuts.

Soul Burger follows Herbert, the album that Ab-Soul released two years ago. It also follows some big moments this summer — Ab-Soul reuniting with his old Black Hippy comrades at Kendrick Lamar’s Pop Out concert and in his “Not Like Us” video. In recent months, Ab-Soul has released weeks like “Squeeze 1st 2” and the JID collab “Crazier.” He only announced the release of Soul Burger last week, but the album is here now. It’s a full-length tribute to Ab-Soul’s late friend DoeBurger.

Soul Burger opens with “9 Mile” track, an allusion to the first scene from the movie Belly, and it’s an appropriately epic intro where he interpolates Eminem‘s 8 Mile: B-Rabbit vs Papa Doc scene. The rest of the LP has plenty of big-name guests, including Vince Staples, Doechii, Lupe Fiasco, Ty Dolla $ign, JasonMartin, Blxst, and Punch. The late DoeBurger makes an appearance, too. ScHoolboy Q doesn’t rap on the album, but he contributes production, as do people like 9th Wonder, Terrace Martin, and Beat Butcha.

In the first verse of the second part of the song, Soulo raps: “I am broke, I am on f–king drugs / Don’t owe s–t, I’m paying rent but my babies mom / I take a 7.62 for Top Dawg / I did jump off a bridge on Del Amo Boulevard / I’m blessed but question why God would have mercy on a junkie / Biggest lie I ever told was that it ain’t about the money / Hopped out the rabbit hole but now I’m really trippin’ / I’m still standing here screaming “F–k the whole system” / Couldn’t care any less if you judge me b–ch / You don’t know what the f–k I did for this s–t / And I don’t know much, but I do know this / I got the game in a headlock, I’m like Draymond / Yo, you think you f–kin’ with the squad just a little bit? (No!) / Dream on, and then apply for your Nembership.”

This, as well as the title of the track is in reference Eminem’s “8 Mile” movie. The first line is a direct reference to a line said by B-Rabbit “I am white, I am a f–king bum, I do live in a trailer with my mom.” Next lines are also reference to Eminem’s lines: ““I’m still standin’ here screaming, “F–k the Free World!” / Don’t ever try to judge me, dude / You don’t know what the f–k I’ve been through / But I know something about you…” Ab-Soul practically rapped his version of entire B-Rabbit’s verse in the final battle of 8 Mile against Papa Doc. You can listen to the song below:

Ab-Soul shouts out Eminem on new Radar Radio freestyle

Ab-Soul has likened himself to one of Hip Hop’s greatest MCs while freestyling over a beat from another all-time great.

Ahead of the release of his new album Soul Burger (which was released on November 8, 2024), the TDE rapper stepped into the booth for his first appearance on On the Radar Radio‘s popular freestyle series.

Spitting slick bars over JAY-Z‘s bouncy “Squeeze 1st” instrumental, Soulo boldly compared himself to Eminem, rapping: “Get ready for the coup de grâce, who am I? / Marshall Mathers with melanin / Kept it G even when I’m embellishing.”

The Black Lip Pastor also made references to J. Cole, Kirk Franklin, Banksy and TDE labelmate Doechii before putting his spin on a few bars from the original Hov track: “Thou shalt not f–k with raw me / Or he face a thousand deaths / From Mr. Herbert Anthony / Stevens, IV full of potent dope / Not a Cuban cigar maker but I need all of the smoke.”

“Squeeze 1st” was a fitting beat choice from Ab-Soul given Soul Burger features a song called “Squeeze 1st 2,” which nods to the Dynasty: Roc La Familia cut but has a very different beat. Watch the freestyle below.

Eminem to appear Adam Sandler’s new movie “Happy Gilmore 2”

EMINEM has filmed a secret cameo on Adam Sandler’s upcoming movie “Happy Gilmore 2” and impressed the cast with his “great comedic acting skills,” reports The Sun magazine.

A source exclusively revealed to The U.S. Sun that Slim Shady was on the New Jersey set for the highly anticipated flick on Tuesday to film his top-secret scenes.

“Em is a big fan of the original movie, and he was a total pleasure to work with. He was just super low key, he didn’t have a big entourage, and was just an absolute delight on set. He was very easygoing and was fine with all the takes.” said the insider.

The source then continued: “He has good comedic acting skills. He’s playing a comedic role and he really had fun with it. He flew in just for this the night before and left the following night. It was a one-day shoot.”

It’s actually an onscreen reunion of sorts for Eminem and Adam, who appeared together in the 2009 film, titled Funny People. Meanwhile, Eminem is far from the only major star to have appeared in the sequel to the iconic 1996 golf comedy as Travis Kelce and maybe Taylor Swift are also rumored to appear. The movie is expected to be released on Netflix sometime in 2025.

Snoop Dogg talks about Eminem and their new song

Shortly after announcing the star-studded tracklist for his much-anticipated upcoming album “Missionary,” Snoop Dogg has given a bit of insight into how a few of the standout records will sound.

On Friday, the west-coast legend was on hand in New York City’s Times Square to give a surprise performance to launch “Fortnite” Chapter 2 remix, which features contributions from Snoop, Ice Spice, Eminem and the late rapper Juice WRLD’s estate. During an interview with Variety, shortly after he wrapped the performance, Snoop shared that he anticipated two of the album’s tracks — “Last Dance With Mary Jane” featuring Jelly Roll and Tom Petty, and “Gunz n Smoke” featuring 50 Cent and Eminem — may potentially be featured in the new “Fortnite” rollout.

“Well, Tom Petty is a weed song, so I don’t know if they’re going to let that one in. But the 50 Cent Eminem song is a real street record that sounds like it’s supposed to be in this game with all the different things that I’m seeing. Especially in my maps, so it fits perfectly with the things I’m doing.” said Snoop Dogg.

Snoop also acknowledged that Eminem is included in the new “Fortnite” campaign and looks forward to aligning with his longtime associate whenever possible: “That’s Slim Shady, that’s my guy! That’s my Libra gang partner. So we like to do as many things we can do together, we like to do because we’re family. So I was glad to see he was part of this as well.”

Snoop Dogg reveals tracklist of “Missionary” album, prod by Dr. Dre

Snoop Dogg has finally announced the release date for his much anticipated new album “Missionary,” produced entirely by the one and only Dr. Dre.

“Missionary,” which is being billed as the sequel to Snoop’s 1993 debut “Doggystyle,” is set for release on December 13, 2024. It marks the first full-length collaboration between Dre and Snoop since “Doggystyle.”

The rap icon made the announcement with a promotional video on social media where two Mormon missionaries knock on a stranger’s door, only to be met with a woman in full lingerie who tells them, “What the f–k? Your ad said you were dedicated to missionary work.”

Snoop first mentioned the album back in 2022, when he said that it would be done that November. He billed it as a “30th anniversary to ‘Doggystyle,’” which Dr. Dre produced in full. That album became the fastest-selling hip-hop album ever at the time, and has since been hailed as one of the best rap records of all-time.

Today, the tracklist and features were was unveiled. Eminem and 50 Cent appear together on a track called “Gunz N Smoke,” which is, of course, produced by Dr. Dre. You can check the full tracklist and features below.

Though little information is known about “Missionary,” both Snoop and Dre have dropped hints about the project over the past few years. In August, Dre said that he was close to finishing mixing the album and that Sting would be one of its features. Snoop reiterated the Sting feature earlier this month, and confirmed that Jelly Roll would also appear on the set.

Several other emcees and musicians have claimed that they’ve either heard the project or will be featured on it. 50 Cent said he’d be on the album in March, and Method Man confirmed that he would also grace the set during a “Drink Champs” interview last month. Eminem is also rumored to be on the album… Watch the trailer of the announcement below.

Canibus talks about Eminem in a new interview with Van Styles

On the Episode 30 of Big Dookie Chain Podcast, Canibus, who was an unique talents in hip-hop when lyrics meant everything, sat down with Van Styles after a show in Connecticut and talked about hip-hop from a perspective only Canibus can.

He gets into how he started in music, what coming into the game in the super competitive golden age was like and being someone who “tried to hard and loved the game too much.” He spoke about his multiple beefs and looking back what he might have done different. He also talked about Wyclef Jean and LL Cool J.

At one point of the interview, Canibus talked about Eminem too: “I don’t take it serious anymore. I’m half of century years old… It’s not cool to diss Eminem. Everybody who has ever dissed him knows that it’s not cool to diss Eminem. Because of the different things. Not blackballed or somebody making a phone-call. It’s just, if you threaten something, or you posed to threaten something or you posturing or threatening something that so many people love, then you inadvertently put yourself in the seat [where there is no empathy] and Benzino was talking about that. Benzino is a hardcore dude and it came out of his mouth. He’s the real one.”

Fat Joe & LL Cool J talk about relationship with Eminem

Fat Joe has recently sat with LL Cool J for a discussion about his road to success on a new episode of his weekly interview series, “Fat Joe Talks,” on STARZ.

During the 30 minutes conversation, the two hip-hop icons briefly talked about the relationship with Eminem.

Fat Joe: [The fact that you want to be yourself and copy no one] We respect that and we love that. That’s the only way you’ll get somebody like Eminem, the biggest streamer in the universe, to shoot a video and do a song with you cause he respects you as an artist. Tell me about that relationship between you and Eminem cause I feel like I got the best relationship with you but I’m starting getting in my feelings. Cause this man right here, I’ve seen him big you up when he won Hall Of Fame. I seen him always big you up.
LL Cool J: He’s amazing. We got a great rapport. We are friends. He does [look up to me]. We have that love for hip-hop in common.

Jameis Winston talks how Eminem’s song inspired him in life

The Cleveland Browns provided one of the biggest surprises of the Week 8 Sunday slate with their win over division rival Baltimore and Jameis Winston played big role in it. That victory snapped the Browns’ five-game losing streak and ended the Ravens’ five-game winning streak.

Cleveland had their best offensive performance of the season behind backup quarterback Jameis Winston. He completed 27 of 41 passes for 334 yards and three touchdowns, including the go-ahead touchdown to Cedric Tillman in the game’s final minute.

After the game, Winston quoted Eminem when asked about getting his first start since 2022: “There’s a white boy from Detroit that I really admire named Eminem. He said, ‘You only get one shot. Do not miss your chance to blow. This opportunity lasts once in a lifetime.'”

Winston nearly had that part of the chorus to Eminem’s song “Lose Yourself” perfectly correct. Except the final line is, “This opportunity comes once in a lifetime,” but Winston got the point across. You can watch the interview below:

Joe Hendry pays tribute to Eminem at TNA World Championship

Will the real Joe Hendry please stand up?!

Before he made his way to the ring at TNA Bound For Glory in Detroit, Michigan, a video package aired for Joe Hendry with the musical track being inspired by Eminem’s magnum opus single, “Lose Yourself.”

Hendry then stood at the top of the ramp in overalls and a Jason mask, revving a chainsaw. The persona was a tribute to Eminem’s Slim Shady persona from late ’90s and early ’00s.

Hendry previously invited Eminem to attend the event but it seems Marshall Mathers didn’t receive the invitation. Hendry challenged Nic Nemeth for the TNA World Title in the co-main event of TNA Bound For Glory. Watch the video below.

Kid Rock shows support to Eminem, despite political differences

Kid Rock, the hip-hop and country-rock star from metro Detroit, Michigan, has become just as well-known for his music as his political opinions, and the music legend on his way is back with another hot take about the upcoming United States election. This time, Rock is standing with fellow musicians Eminem and Taylor Swift, celebrating them for using their platforms, even if he doesn’t agree with their politics.

Kid Rock posted a video on his social media profiles, shirtless, playing guitar in a camouflage hat, saying, “Now that I have your attention. I love Eminem. We’ve been friends for many years. I don’t agree with his politics, but I do give credit to him and people like Taylor Swift for standing up and not being afraid to be vocal for that which they believe. Thinking differently and having the freedom to do so is what makes this country great.”

Eminem, who has previously collaborated with Rock, thrown his support behind Kamala Harris about a week ago in his hometown. Slim Shady took to the stage at Huntington Place in Detroit to introduce former President Barack Obama, who was rallying in support of Harris. Despite being “unequivocally MAGA,” Kid Rock said he supports his fellow artists for using their platform for politics, regardless of which side of the aisle they fall on.

Eminem responded Rock on X (formerly Twitter), saying: “Here’s one thing Kid Rock and I do agree on… GO DETROIT LIONS !!!! Appreciate you, Bob.” After few hours, Kid Rock responded back: Thanks Eminem. Who would of thought it would be 2 white rappers from Detroit / Michigan to show our divided Country what class is and how it should be done! Appreciate ya too Marshall! Kid Rock / Bob Ritchie. DETROIT LOVE #GOLIONS.” Check out the official tweets below.
