Logic Reveals How Eminem Inspired His First Rap Name “Skittles”

Logic recently shared a humorous story about how “Skittles” became his very first rap name. During an appearance on 5 Things with Jay Mewes, the 36-year-old MC explained the origin of the nickname while casually holding a bag of M&M’s.

“You know what’s actually funny? I’m not going to pick this but I have a story about these and the reason I’m telling you a story about M&Ms is actually because its a story about Skittles but I don’t see any Skittles here. And Skittles was my first rap name and kids were like ‘we are going to call you Skittles because Eminem is taken.’ And I was like ‘I’m not fully white, so…'” said Logic.

Logic had previously talked about the name while promoting his 2019 book, Supermarket, during an interview on the talk show Strahan, Sara and Keke (then known as Strahan and Sara). ,At the time, the Grammy-nominated rapper admitted that the popularity of Eminem played a role in how he got the nickname.

“When I was a kid, you know, just rapping, having fun doing my thing in my neighborhood, Eminem was poppin’. He was the biggest and they were like, ‘Yeah, we’re just gonna call you Skittles,’ I was like, ‘All right, that’s like the softest rapper name, I think, ever.” Logic said.
