Today, 21 years ago, Eminem set Guinness World Record & its still unbroken
On this day, 21 years ago (June 10, 2000), Eminem’s third solo studio album, The Marshall Mathers LP sold 1,760,000 copies in its first week in the United States and debuted at No. 1 on Billboard 200.
The album sold twice as much as the previous hip-hop/rap record holder for first week sales in the United States, which was Snoop Dogg’s 1993 classic album, Doggystyle.
Eminem instantly became fastest selling rapper and solo act until Adele broke it in 2015 with her third studio album “25” by selling over 3 million copies in its first week.
After twenty one years, Eminem still remains the fastest selling rapper and male act since Nielsen Soundscan began tracking sales of the albums.
